Sinds de kennismaking met de muziek van oude krijger Jackson Del Rey op 'CIII – Even Celestina Gets The Blues (A Tale Of Love And Quantum Physics)' dragen we 17 Pygmies een warm hart toe. Het was het laatste, overweldigende deel van het 'Celestina' drieluik. Het zou moeilijk worden om dit te overtreffen of zelfs maar te evenaren. Zelf waren ze niet zo zeker van hun zaak, maar ik wil iedereen meteen gerust stellen. Ook 'Isabel' – het eerste deel van 17 Pygmies hun nieuwe trilogie - is in alle opzichten een prachtig werkstuk. Centrale figuur is deze keer Dr. Isabel, een bemanningslid van het ruimteschip Celestina. Zij is onder meer gefascineerd door de geometrische structuur van bloemen. Muzikaal ligt 'Isabel' in het verlengde van 'Celestina' al is de algemene teneur toch een stuk weemoediger en triest. Naast klassieke muziek maken progressieve rock, avant-garde, krautrock, Indiase muziek, folk, electro en space rock deel uit van het aanbod aan muzikale stijlen en invloeden. De hemelse structuren van de composities krijgen soms als toplaag de fantastische stem van Meg Maryatt waarbij je heerlijk kan wegdromen. Ook de occasionele samenzang met Jackson is van dezelfde, hoogstaande kwaliteit. De verpakking is net als bij 'Celestina' al even indrukwekkend als de muziek. De geometrische figuur is handgemaakt en het fraai geïllustreerde boekje bevat het eerste deel van 'The Book Of Isabel'.
